Traffic lights may be installed:
- Because of possible traffic hazard
- To manage traffic flow from new developments, schools, leisure centres. (In some cases developers will finance new signals)
Fault Reporting
To report a faulty traffic light please contact the Highways Team.
Please be specific about the problem. A list of possible faults is shown below:
- All lamps out
- Red to traffic lamp failed
- Amber to traffic lamp failed
- Green to traffic lamp failed
- Green filter arrow lamp failed
- Red man lamp failed
- Green man lamp failed
- Wait lamp failed
- Long delays (specify which approach)
- Permanent pedestrian demand (changing to pedestrians all the time when nobody is there)
- Signal head alignment - Head turned by vehicle strike or vandals
- Miscellaneous vandal damage (please specify)
- Timing fault, such as short greens or long greens to approaches where there is no traffic)
- Lamps dim
- Pole leaning
- Other fault (please specify)
Temporary Traffic Lights
In order to use temporary traffic lights within Torbay (Accredited Contractors only) you must notify the Council.
